Mentioned Honourably

I got my first honourable mention from the Spectator this week, in a contest to write an elegy about ash dieback. Was my career in biology an advantage? Not so much: my poem was mainly a series of execrable puns on ‘ash’. It looks like I’ve found their level (although not entirely or I’d have won).

This week I also got my first retweet from QIkipedia, the researchers for Stephen Fry’s panel show. Each Friday at 5ish on Twitter there are challenges to come up with a quick quip in response to a few posted questions. The funniest 3 in 10 minutes get retweeted. It would take too long to explain my joke for it to be funny by the end, but I was feeling quite the Oscar Wilde.
